The entry point to the programme. Establishes the foundational knowledge base for the ADC examined domains — understanding dental caries from aetiology through management, preventive dentistry principles, and antimicrobial stewardship.

Caries detection (visual, tactile, radiographic). Risk assessment frameworks. Bitewing interpretation. Restoration material selection against current Australian guidance.
Preventive Dentistry
Stephan curve, Keyes tetrad, biofilm ecology. Fluoride protocols. Sealant indications. Patient-level prevention planning.
Infection Prevention & Control
Australian IPC standards. Cross-infection prevention in operative dentistry. Sterilisation cycles. PPE protocols specific to dental settings.
Plus daily integration of Radiology and Pharmacology (30 min each), every day of the course.
